Thoughts on Afghanistan

Sometimes, there simply are no words.

There are no words to describe the utter desperation a person would feel to compel him to grasp on to the outside of a moving airplane, as it lifts off into the air, only to fall to a tragic death moments later.

There are no words to describe the feeling of utter dread felt by millions of people as they come to realize their freedom that they have enjoyed over the last twenty years is going to be severely limited.

There are no words to offer families of the American soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice in their heroic efforts to topple the Taliban, freeing the Afghani civilians from oppression.

There are no words to describe the shame I feel as an American, whose country has shamefully abandoned a helpless nation against the uprising of a tyrannical regime.

There are no words to describe the feeling of complete helplessness I feel as I witness all of this unfold on social media and news outlets.

May G-d help the people of Afghanistan, and may good once again triumph over evil, now and forever more.
